Venue

The conference will be held in the Politecnico di Torino Lingotto halls. The Lingotto building, designed by the engineer Mattè- Trucco for FIAT, was at the time of its opening the largest car factory, with its avant-garde structure with five floors of concrete and a world-famous test track on the roof (popularized by the movie The Italian Job).

In the eighties, the structure was retrofitted following an international architectural competition, won by Renzo Piano, to host a modern complex with concert halls, a theatre, a convention centre, shopping arcades and a hotel. The eastern portion of the building hosts a part of the Politecnico di Torino facilities, with state of the art lecture rooms and a main hall designed again by Renzo Piano.

Lingotto is but one of the great sights of Torino, a city with thousands of years of history, world-class museums, a rich industrial past and a remarkable academic tradition. The city of Torino is at the forefront of urban transformation, with long term projects of post-industrial redevelopment and a strong focus on sustainability.
